BRINGING THE GALAXY HOME IN A BOX
"IN THE SHOP" WITH SMTWelcome everyone to the spring of 2024 update!
Since 1997 SMT has provided amazing kits, finished miniatures and parts to modelers and collectors and museums worldwide. Well as usual the months move along quickly. Since retiring a few years ago my time and interests have taken me away somewhat from the scale model work world that I spent the last ,almost 27 years now, working and playing in. My summer months are mostly me working at Heritage Park, with a few days over the winter. As summer approaches this means my free time for my own projects is drawing to a close for now. And I really did not accomplish anything for myself in 2023. I built some more models for the park so I wasn't out of the model world completely. In the meantime - the 1:35 scale V tanker hasn't really progressed, which saddens me. So I will be tinkering on this over the summer this year to keep it and me going. The build will be a one of though as having had the last couple years to miss (or as it turns out) NOT MISS producing a line of resin garage kits has brought me to understand I can turn to building as a personal hobby once again! Its a hazard of the industry, it all becomes work. I have some great build parts of some Anderson projects that I have am still unsure I will build. I sold off the bits I won't be doing for sure to help narrow down the collection here at the shop and focus on what my interest drives. As always, I thank everyone for their patronage over the years! I truly enjoyed supplying sought after science fiction models to builders and collectors all around the world. I still get weekly emails from folks looking for one of our amazing kits. Donor kits
It has been awhile since I featured any of the studio scale donor kits used on subjects. So here is a section overview. These are all a part of my kit archives. Only specific to what I need for my projects (or in the past client's). Its a great benefit though to be able to walk and browse through a suspected kit or just grab the part and go, same with the Plastruct inventory.
ON THE BENCH ' V ' & SEAVIEW
Below is some photos whats on my bench. The actual builds should start to happen this summer which is great as I can move on to new projects. This means I will not continue building the 1/72 and 1/35 scale shuttle. I think I will just turn the 1/72 into a fighter and call it done. The 1/35 tanker and studio scale tanker I still plan to build up starting this summer.
And when I need a break from V, I hope to turn my attention to this nose casting from the original 8ft Seaview model. For me the Aurora/Monogram flying sub will be just fine as a companion. Sooo many projects!

Some pictures of what I have tinkered with over the years.
