Large studio scale V series shuttlecraft. This is our kit shown assembled and finished. Over all length is about 26.5" inches long. Features opening cockpit door and landing gear. The model is shown here supporting its own weight. Inside the round gear is aluminium tube. The front strut is made from the same aluminium tubing. This model was recreated using data taken from the actual filming miniature while in the SMT shop.
One of the few differences that sets this model apart from the full size sets is the landing gear. The front gear has a different bar system that is much simpler than the working detail used on the full size set. There is just a singular bar instead of the twin system used. As well we modeled the round gear based on the miniature with one difference. We used the large upper diameter pipe as seen on the full size set. The minature used a much smaller system of three different sizes which to me, just did not look as good as the beefy full size display. The full size sets have white landing gear interior and doors while the miniatures use the same coloring as the gear platforms. The smaller 4 panels around the back and front of the 'pod' section as well run parallel with the lines of the full size set , while on the filming model they run slightly askew.
