Large studio scale V Skyfighter. This model was molded directly from the filming miniature by me! You will not find a more faithful reproduction of this model. While I removed certain blemishes to make the finished model look a better, I did not alter any of the basic lines (or uneveness typical of studio models as they are built quickly) of the studio model. The decals are produced by JBot.
There are various differences in the models between scales and full size sets. Some of the differences on between the two are easily spotted. The full size set door opens up from a hinge point on the top of the roof, while the miniature clearly shows the door stopping before then. Hastily added to the studio model were the rear rectangular gear doors. The miniature of the skyfighter is shown rarely with gear down, coming in to land. This is because the miniature has the long front foot, but the rear two are the smaller round pad style seen on the shuttles and exit the bottom of the back half underneath and beside the large bulge on the bottom. On my reproduction I have left the rear upper vent solid and painted black. On the miniatures they are hollow to a point, but I decided not to duplicate that to prevent my model from being sold as an original casting.
